About this site
This site was sketched by hand, comped in Photoshop, and ultimately produced using BBEdit to create valid transitional XHTML and CSS, all in Mac OSX. The main background tile was inspired by the many fine patterns available at squidfingers.com and ultimately produced by me in Photoshop. The floral imagery was taken from the free sample art available from Dover Publications.
Preparation for this site included reading many fine books and websites, including:
- Head First HTML
- The Zen of CSS Design, Eric Meyers
- www.alistapart.com
About A. Parent
A New England native, I grew up with a love of the outdoors and the natural elements it brings us. At Simmons college, I studied both communications and graphic design while working part-time jobs, rowing crew, and putting together the school paper. Since then each position I've had has built my skills and exposed me to different styles of workplace and industry.
Exploring and travelling the world are some of my most favorite experiences. Whether it's the fresh breeze of new places, hiking on a leafy narrow dirt path to somewhere, feeling salty ocean sand between my toes — they all inspire my work and free my mind.
